Listen To The Entire Album

This past week I decided to eschew the shuffle function on my iPod.  I have purchased quite a few new albums recently and put them on the computer and uploaded them to my iPod.  Instead of just pushing shuffle I have made a new promise to myself to get back to the basics -- listening to the entire album.  In our current world of soundbites & highlights, I found it refreshing to get back to my roots and spend 30-50 minutes with an album.  This is something that many (including myself) consider to be a work of art so why was I chopping it up like a personal satellite radio station? 

This made even more sense with the recent shows that Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band have been playing recently. They are incorporating playing entire albums into their live sets. So far they have done Born To Run, Born In The U.S.A. & Darkness On The Edge Of Town. This is not a new trend in live sets as many acts are doing this now, but Mary and I are seeing Springsteen in 10 days and they are schedule to play one of my favorite albums 1975's Born To Run.
